Spokane, WA — Today, Ian Field, 26, announced his campaign for the Washington State House in the Sixth District. Kevin Parker, who currently represents this seat, announced earlier this week he will not seek reelection.
“I am eager to show what a new generation of leadership can bring to Spokane,” said Field. “We’ve seen so much positive growth, with the new Spokane Medical School, new construction, and unemployment cut in half. Our future is bright if we face up to the challenges and work together to reach solutions. I look forward to meeting voters and listening to their ideas for how we can help our region continue to thrive.”
“Millennials know our two biggest challenges are quality education and fostering new jobs and economic growth,” Field said. “I want to follow in Kevin Parker’s footsteps and find solutions that work for our community without political grandstanding.”
Local leaders are showing confidence in Field’s outlook and experience; he’s already earned the endorsements of State Representative Kevin Parker, who’s seat he is running to fill, and Spokane Mayor David Condon.
“Ian has a heart for solving problems and helping people,” said State Rep. Kevin Parker. “I am confident he will listen carefully to the people of the 6th District and represent them well in Olympia.”
“Ian understands our community and works well with everybody,” said Spokane Mayor David Condon. "He will be a strong partner, helping us continue to bring jobs and opportunities to Spokane."
Field, a native of Eastern Washington, spent the past 4 years promoting pragmatic, conservative ideas in Spokane. He has worked for Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Spokane Mayor David Condon.
